On the Meeting of the Head of the PMR\'s MFA with the Head of the Delegation of the EU to Moldova

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Nina Shtanski met with Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Moldova Dirk Shuebel and project manager of the Delegation of the European Union to RM Hubert Duhot.

Representatives of the European Union expressed interest in the results of the meeting of the President of the PMR Yevgeny Shevchuk and Prime-Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vladimir Filat, held on January 27, in Odessa.

Nina Shtanski thanked interlocutors for their attention to the issues of settlement of the Moldova-Pridnestrovie relations. She pointed out that in Odessa a constructive dialogue took place, ways to solve problems which over the past years had grown into obstacles for economic development of Pridnestrovie were outlined.

In particular, Yevgeny Shevchuk paid attention of the Moldovan Prime to the questions of economic partnership, simplification of the procedure for crossing the border by common citizens and movement of goods and services.

Thus, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nina Shtanski underlined that a result of the meeting between Yevgeny Shevchuk and Vlad Filat will become intensification of the work of expert and working groups on railway communication. According to the Head of the PMR's MFA, resolution of this problem will improve the well-being of people, give new workplaces to citizens, and increase tax revenues to Republic's budget.

In the course of the conversation, issues of EU projects implementation aimed at confidence building between Kishinev and Tiraspol were touched upon. Dirk Shuebel marked that among humanitarian projects the priority will be given to the sphere of healthcare.

The sides discussed also the forthcoming political consultations in the 5+2 format due in Dublin. Nina Shtanski expressed hope that in Dublin socio-economic problems of Pridnestrovie will get impetus to the search for he new ways of their resolution. The EU representatives, in their turn, highlighted the importance of reaching compromises on issues regarding procedure of the work of the Permanent Conference. This should become basis for optimal and coordinated solution of concrete problems in life of residents of Moldova and Pridnestrovie.
