The Foreign Ministry reports that RM law enforcement representatives in the Causeni customs terminal unlawfully broke into the car owned by the Pridnestrovian carrier and seized part of the batch of the Pridnestrovian-type plates.

We consider another provocation from Chisinau designed to aggravate problems in the road transport sector with the aim to violate the rights and interests of residents of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to be an evidence of the Republic of Moldova’s refusal to act adequately in negotiations with Pridnestrovie.

The Pridnestrovian Foreign Ministry considered the comment of Moldova’s Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, expressing a rather strange regret that “the Pridnestrovian side preferred direct letters to use existing formats”. At the same time, Moldova’s representative believes that Pridnestrovie “must go through the existing formats first”.

With regard to the attempts of the Moldovan side to justify the destructive seizure of billets of Pridnestrovian license plates of two types, let us add further clarity, revealing the inconsistency and illegitimacy of the Republic of Moldova’s actions.

We reviewed the Moldovan Parliament’s decision to declare 2022 the “year of gratitude” to the combatants, who were sent by the Moldovan authorities to kill Pridnestrovians only for the desire to live on their land, speak their native language and raise children in their own system of cultural and moral values and traditions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs took note of the biased media statements by the Official Representative of Moldova to the Council of Europe on the Romanian-language schools on the territory of Pridnestrovie.

In this regard, we draw the Moldovan official's attention to the fact that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is committed to an approach allowing its citizens to exercise their right to freely choose the language of instruction and get education in appropriate educational institutions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the statement adopted by the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation regarding the inadmissibility of any destructive moves from the neighboring states against Pridnestrovie and the need for measures to support Russian citizens and Russian compatriots living in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

The mentioned document has once again confirmed the significant role of the Russian Federation as a guarantor country and mediator in the Moldovan-Pridnestrovian settlement.

Certain political forces in Moldova tried to speculate on the situation for electoral purposes. As you know, Pridnestrovie takes a principled position of non-interference in internal political processes in the neighboring state.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR expresses extreme concern in connection with the armed conflict escalation due to the Republic of Azerbaijan army’s attacking actions against the Republic of Artsakh; actions that have already brought to numerous casualties on both sides.

We strongly condemn the next round of military aggression, accompanied by shelling settlements and civilian infrastructure, thus, leading to innocent civilians’ death.

07/20/20

In connection with the ongoing attacks by certain high-ranking officials of the neighboring Moldova regarding the methods used by Pridnestrovie to contain the pandemic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR underscores the following.

The controlled quarantine crossing points on the border of Pridnestrovie with the Republic of Moldova function primarily and explicitly to protect the health of the Pridnestrovian citizens by preventing a massive disease “importation” from abroad.
